Oral Cancer Screening San Diego
We now offer VELscope (Visually Enhanced Lesion scope) Technology. Traditionally, our dentist and hygienists have done oral cancer screening with the naked eye, but recently a new technology, the VELscope has received FDA approval. One of the VELscope’s most important tasks is to help locate areas that might, if not treated, progress to oral cancer. The VELscope will help us pinpoint and identify suspicious tissue at earlier stages before they may become life threatening concerns. Be sure to ask us about VELscope. We are one of the few providers in San Diego that offer this new technology.
The goal of oral cancer screening is to identify mouth cancer early, when there is a greater chance for a cure. Most dentists perform an examination of your mouth during a routine dental visit to screen for oral cancer. Some dentists may use additional tests to aid in identifying areas of abnormal cells in your mouth.
